Book 1
Anomalies Need Checkups Too
The puppy on the front step looks like any other patient. But on the hospital camera, it's standing in a snowstorm.
Every night at seven, Dulce Castillo, her little brother Tavo and their best friend Abe clock in to Pawprint Hospital, their own private server in a night-shift animal-hospital game. Dulce works the Night Window, Abe runs the cameras and the flash, and Tavo names every patient in three seconds flat. The rules are simple. Check the tag. Check every patient three ways. And watch out for Lookalikes, the fakes that copy real patients. Let one inside, and the lights go out one by one.
