Minecraft books for kids, sorted by age

Updated November 7, 2026 · By the Bonus Level Books team

If your kid can talk about creepers, redstone and villager trades for an hour but groans at the word "reading," a story set in a world they already know can be the way in. These are our unofficial Minecraft chapter books, sorted by age and by the kind of story your reader likes.

Every series has its own original characters, and every book is a complete adventure, so a reader can start with any book. None of them are official Minecraft books: they are written for fans by an independent publisher.

Ages 6 to 8: a gentle first chapter book

How to choose

Kids who love mobs and night-time survival usually go for the spooky-funny books like The Nightshade Kids and Howlwood Pack. Kids who spend their time with horses, wolves and axolotls will like Sunny Meadow Ranch and Seaglass Mermaids.

Then check the age band on each series. Our guide for parents explains the three reading levels, what's in the books and what never is.
